Reset Method Book

A practical framework for real change

RESET Method

RESET Method is a practical framework for redesigning your life using experiments, data and real-world feedback. A workshop-style book that treats your entire life like a working experiment - helping you redesign your habits, rebuild your energy, understand your patterns and create days that actually feel good to live.

RESET is not a lecture or a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead of relying on willpower or short bursts of motivation, it teaches you how to understand the systems that shape your energy, cravings, mood, decisions and identity - and how to rebuild them one simple experiment at a time.

You will map the patterns that are running your day to day life, redesign your habits using feedback from your body and mind, rebuild sleep, metabolism and focus, and create rules and routines that survive real life. RESET is not something you follow once - it is a loop you can keep running as your life changes.

PART 1 - WHY CHANGE AT ALL

Most people live with a quiet mismatch between how they want life to feel and how it actually feels. Not broken, not failing, just running a system that was never deliberately designed. RESET starts by showing you what is really shaping your energy, mood, focus, cravings and behaviour today.

  • Why subtle daily choices compound into identity, wellbeing and self-belief.
  • How your body and mind adapt to the systems you run, even if those systems no longer fit your life.
  • The moment you realise change is not about pressure - it is about clarity.

PART 2 - MAPPING YOUR CURRENT SYSTEM

Before you change anything, you need to understand the system you are actually running. Your patterns around sleep, stress, food, movement, work, stimulation and coping are all interconnected. This chapter helps you build an honest, non-judgemental map of your real inputs and outputs.

  • Trigger mapping - times, places, emotions, stories and automatic responses.
  • Identifying what your current habits give you (comfort, escape, energy, certainty) and what they quietly cost.
  • Collecting data in a simple, human way - not spreadsheets, just awareness.

PART 3 - EXPERIMENTS INSTEAD OF RULES

RESET replaces all-or-nothing thinking with structured, compassionate experimentation. You test ideas in your real life and watch what actually changes - in mood, energy, performance and identity.

  • Short, low-pressure experiments that reveal how your body and mind truly respond.
  • Designing trials that fit your actual life - work, parenting, stress and time constraints included.
  • What to do when you slip, stall or get overwhelmed - without starting from zero.

PART 4 - REBUILDING YOUR BODY AND BRAIN

Once you create space in your system, you use it to rebuild the foundations: sleep, metabolism, emotional regulation, dopamine balance, creativity and focus. This is where you start to feel different - not because you are forcing change, but because your biology finally supports it.

  • Repairing sleep and circadian rhythm so your brain stops running in survival mode.
  • Improving blood sugar, hunger signalling, inflammation and energy availability.
  • Understanding cravings, boredom, overstimulation and the patterns you used to soothe with quick fixes.

PART 5 - MAKING CHANGE STICK

Anyone can change for a week. RESET shows you how to design systems that survive stress, chaos, routine disruption, school runs, bad days, good days and everything in between.

  • Personal rules that feel natural - not punishing - and actually work long term.
  • Micro check-ins that take minutes and keep you from drifting off course.
  • How to stay steady through illness, grief, burnout or major life shifts.

PART 6 - APPLYING RESET TO THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

Once you know how to run experiments on yourself, you can apply the same method to any domain: stress, food, movement, focus, relationships, digital habits, work structure or emotional resilience. RESET becomes a toolkit you can use for life design.

  • Using RESET to reclaim time, focus, attention and mental clarity.
  • Stacking habits without burning out - the art of low-friction improvement.
  • Keeping a light, playful touch while still making serious progress.

Who is Alex Grant

Alex is a technologist, founder and writer who has spent years running real-world experiments on health, energy, metabolism and behaviour. Living with type 1 diabetes, leading teams, parenting and rebuilding his own metabolic health has forced him to approach life like an engineer: test, measure, adjust, repeat.

His work combines systems thinking, practical tools and lived experience to help people redesign their days, reduce friction and feel more in control of their body and mind.

Why this book exists

RESET exists because most people are not broken - they are just running systems that were never deliberately designed. Energy, mood, focus, cravings and identity are shaped by hidden inputs we rarely stop to examine. This book shows you how to uncover them.

It was written for people who feel "fine, but not quite right". People who do not fit dramatic before-and-after narratives, but want clarity, structure and a method for changing how life feels - using experiments, feedback and simple, human tools that work in the real world.
